Academic English Studies at Lewis & Clark is an English as a Second Language program for low-intermediate to advanced students. Many of our students study English so that they can continue in an undergraduate or graduate program in the United States. Our classes are difficult, and students learn quickly. Our activities are fun, and students make friends with students from other countries. At AES we take good care of our students. We work hard to make sure that our students are satisfied with their classes and that they are learning what they need to know to be successful in the future. All AES students have an academic advisor to help them with any problems they face. AES is an academic department of Lewis & Clark. Lewis & Clark is an excellent private liberal arts university of higher education. It is famous for its global outlook, close student-faculty relationship, and service to the community. It is proud of its distinguished teachers, performers, researchers and alumni. Lewis & Clark students come from around the USA and from many other countries. They are interested in international students and international issues. AES students who continue to study at the Lewis & Clark undergraduate program can earn up to 24 credits while they study English. Portland, Oregon, is a safe city. The Lewis & Clark campus is in the wooded suburbs, about 5 miles from the center of the city. People in Portland are famous for their green philosophies. Portland is considered the most bicycle friendly city in the USA!
